📚BSIL Book Launching Event

Bangladesh Society of International Law (BSIL) is pleased to host a special book launching event for: The History of International Law in India: Beyond Eurocentrism

Author: Dr. Amritha V. Shenoy , Associate Professor, Kathmandu School of Law, Nepal.

Dr. Shenoy is also the Managing Editor of the Kathmandu School of Law Review. She holds a Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her scholarship engages with international law, legal history, TWAIL, and Global South approaches to the study of law.

This event introduced Dr. Shenoy’s important new book, which offers a critical perspective on the development of international law beyond Eurocentric narratives. The discussion explored a multi-civilisational perspective of international law in pre-independent India, assessing its contributions to the evolution of modern international law. It promises valuable insights into historical principles of human rights, diplomacy, and trade within Indian civilization and their broader relevance to comparative and international legal scholarship.
